If you are having work done to your property or in the middle of planning a new project then it make sense to have a clear understanding on the rules and regulations.
There are quite a few grey areas where it comes to planning permission and building regulations with elements of the criteria changing all the time so it’s easy to see why people may be left feeling a little mind boggled.
Well with this in mind I thought it might be an idea to compile and informational video which explains a little more about the whole process which you can refer back to at any time for guidance.
Please remember and as stated above, the rules and regulations can change so ensure you double check anything with your local council before going ahead with anything.
Some projects may not need planning permissions and come under the permitted development rule whilst other projects will need it. So check with the council first!
If you are instructing and architect, project manager or other agent to look after your proposed building work then they should make all of these enquiries as standard well before you even get to laying a brick. This is called the design stage and where all the preliminaries can be ironed out and addressed in advance.
The video below is here to help offer an insight into the planning procedure but not set in stone so please always contact your local council / advisor for confirmations..
Hope you find this useful and please comment with any queries or feedback
